Ingredients:
– Vegetable oil for frying
– 1 can of biscuit dough
(I used Grands southern-style)
– ½ cup granulated sugar
– 2 teaspoons cinnamon (optional)
Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the dough into 8 biscuits. Use a small cutter to cut holes out of the center of each biscuit.
You can also cut the biscuits into quarters and roll them into balls, to make donut holes!
Pour one inch of vegetable oil into a heavy pan (like a cast iron pan) or fryer.
Heat the oil to 360°F–375°F.
Add the donuts, 3–4 at a time.
Fry until golden brown, then flip and fry until golden brown on the other side.
This will take about 2–3 minutes per side, depending on how hot the oil is. Repeat with the remaining dough.
Place the sugar (and cinnamon, if using) in a shallow dish. Place the hot donuts into the sugar, and toss to coat. You can also shake them in a paper bag if you prefer.
Serve while still warm!
These pair really nicely with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa.
