Ingredients: – 1 lb fresh pizza dough, at room temperature  – 1 tablespoon cornmeal – Pinch of salt – 2 tablespoons olive oil – ½ cup marinara sauce – 1½ cups shredded mozzarella – ½ lb raw Italian sausage – To serve: fresh basil

Cook the sausage in a skillet until cooked through, breaking it up as you cook it. You can use either hot or mild Italian sausage.

Heat a 9-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and swirl it around the pan. Sprinkle in the cornmeal and a pinch of salt.

Roll the dough into a 12-inch circle. Carefully place the pizza dough in the skillet.  Let cook over medium heat until the dough begins to bubble up. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.

Spread the marinara evenly over the top.  Top with the cooked sausage (or your toppings of choice).

Sprinkle the cheese  over the top. Use an oven mitt to transfer the  pan to a 400°F oven.

Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let sit for 5 minutes, then slide the pizza out of the pan.  Tip: the cornmeal makes it easy for the pizza to release from the pan!
