You'll need:
Pears
Butter
White sugar + brown sugar
Eggs
Flour
Buttermilk
Baking soda and salt
Candied ginger (optional)
Sliced almonds
First, we'll roast the pears for maximum pear flavor!
Dice the pears and toss with melted butter. Roast for 10 minutes.
The skin will change from green to brown.
Next, the batter.
Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and vanilla, and beat until combined.
Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt together.
Alternate adding the flour mixture and the buttermilk to the butter mixture.
Mix just until combined and fold in the pears and candied ginger.
Mix the streusel ingredients, and pour the batter into a loaf pan. Top with the streusel and bake for 55–60 minutes at 350°F.
