Easy Pepperoni Rolls with Pizza Dough

If your guests like pizza, they will LOVE these Pepperoni Rolls! Serve them as an appetizer, a snack, or for dinner with a big salad.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 (14 oz) tube of refrigerated pizza dough
  • 5 oz thinly sliced pepperoni
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 egg
  • For dipping: marinara sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Lightly dust a large cutting board with flour. Place the dough on the cutting board and roll or pat into a 16x12 inch rectangle.
  • Place the pepperoni in an even layer on top of the dough. Top the pepperoni with the cheese. Sprinkle the oregano on top.
  • Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice the rectangle into 1½ inch slices along the long edge (I used the width of the pepperoni as a guide). Then, cut the dough in half along the short edge to create 16 pieces.
  • Roll each piece up tightly lengthwise and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  • Combine the egg with one tablespoon of water in a small bowl. Whisk until the egg and water is combined. Brush the egg wash lightly on top of each roll (you won’t use all of the egg).
  • Bake for 16–18 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

*This recipe was updated in October 2022 to reflect the preference for using a tube of pizza dough instead of a disk of pizza dough that needs to be rolled out. The tube is much easier to use.
However, you can also make this recipe with a disk of store-bought pizza dough (such as the one from Trader Joe's) or even homemade pizza dough. Make sure the store-bought dough is at room temperature before rolling it out. Cold dough from the refrigerator will be difficult to roll out.
