1lbground sausage(hot or mild, such as Bob Evans or Jimmy Dean)
8ozshredded Cheddar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Place Bisquick, sausage, and cheddar in a large bowl. Mix gently just until combined (using your hands may be easiest for this).
Roll into balls 1–1½ inches in diameter. Bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Notes
Make these spicy by using spicy sausage, substituting pepper jack cheese, or adding ½–1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Don't have Bisquick? Any variety of plain or buttermilk pancake mix will work. Substitute your favorite variety of shredded cheese for the cheddar. You can shred the cheese yourself, but it'll melt into the sausage a little more so it won't look exactly like the photos (but it'll taste the same!). Make ahead instructions: form the meat into balls and freeze unbaked balls in a single layer in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Bake at 400°F for 25–28 minutes, or until cooked through.Dipping sauce ideas include ketchup, bbq sauce, Dijonnaise, remoulade, or ranch.
