1(3 oz) package fruit-flavored gelatin (such as Jell-O; use your favorite flavor)
Cooking spray or more butter(for greasing your hands)
Instructions
Place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on a work surface.
Place the popcorn in a large bowl.
Melt butter in a large saucepan. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Stir in the fruit-flavored jello.
Pour over the popcorn and stir to coat.
Spray your hands with cooking spray or coat with a thin layer of butter or oil. Carefully roll the popcorn into balls (the mixture will still be warm). Place on the parchment paper or wax paper.
Let cool and enjoy!
Notes
I used Valley Pop popcorn for this recipe. Skinny Pop or another plain-ish popcorn work, too. It can be salted or unsalted, just avoid any overly buttery popcorns. Want to add more color? Add a few drops of food coloring to the marshmallow mixture to create a deeper color (example: add a few drops of green food coloring will create a deeper green color than just lime gelatin on its own). These popcorn balls are best enjoyed the same day that they are made.Want to make two colors of popcorn balls with one recipe? Follow these instructions: After the marshmallows melt, divide the mixture between two large bowls. Stir one half of a package (¼ cup) gelatin powder into one bowl, and another half package of a different color into the other bowl.Stir each to combine, then add 6 cups of popcorn to the first bowl, then 6 cups of popcorn to the second bowl. Stir to combine, then form into balls.
