Ingredients

1¼ lbs ground beef I used 85% lean
¼ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg beaten
½ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon pepper
¼ cup finely minced onion
¼ cup finely chopped celery (about 1 rib)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
½ cup water

Instructions

In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef with the breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, onion, and celery.

Form into 6 patties about ¾ inch thick, either in a round or oval shape.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on the bottom, about 3–4 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until browned on the other side.
Drain any grease out of the pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk the cream of mushroom soup and water together. Pour over the cooked meat patties. Cover and cook for 20 minutes over low heat.

Remove from the pan and serve over mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles.

Notes

Take care not to over mix the beef mixture, which can make it tough.

Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.
